Friday the 18th - Presentation of A.B.C.

PISO collective and Graw Böckler are presenting a remaking and re-installation of material produced and recorded out of 10 days of experimentation in a specific cultural Oporto context, C.C.O.P. (Circulo Católico dos Operários do Porto), last October, during Lawine Festival 09.

We've placed in dialogue some videowork, drawings, thoughts and experiences from this moment in Oporto. An in-and-outdoors evening to be enjoyed from 21:00 on, with soundscapes, film projection and Vokü in the backyard.

The Marvellous Tone members Pedro André and Sara Pereira will present a re-arrangement of sounds recorded during this project, transposing the perception of some Oporto cultural contexts into Altes Finanzamt backyard.

began his music career in 1990 as a Dj. His fascination with music sparked four years earlier when, for the first time, he listened to the futuristic sounds of Acid Chicago and
techno/electro from Detroit. He played in many different national and international locations and, and festivals. He pursued a constant research within the scene of techno Detroit and deep expermental electro. In parallel with his djing activity, he studies Desktop Music Production. In 2002 he produces his first techno live set project called MY, with the collaboration of Ape5 for the visuals. He also collaborates with Neural and takes part in different sound projects: Sonic Genoma,Fugback (multimedia
performance, in collaboration with Medium DYNE Lab, Wien, Austria).
Miky Ry also produced sound timeline and soundtrack for video and art works. Since 2004 he is active in to the underground techno/electro scene of Berlin as dj/producer. Playing in different clubs and releasing fresh electro tunes with label as Joprec-Substrata-Mtone. In the 2008 he start Berlinbox a weekly radioshow for an american radiostation Party934.com
and 102.5 fm New York. At the moment he work in his studio in Berlin for the upcoming lp on his record label.

started approaching the Dj's world around 1995's. The scene of the Sound System is the initial reference point in his musical path. From that time he starts to play Dub,
Reggae, Hip hop and digital Dub. Since then, he has been Djaying regularly in several clubs in Italy , and since 2009 in his new home, Berlin . In the german capital he also began new collaborations with local artists and co-producing the radioshow "Back on the Block" (weekly bass music radio show), for the american radiostation Party934.

Special Live act from the new project - Awe processing

"Awe processing" is a project that consists of encounters where an instrument processes in real time another instrument, only through the means of improvisation.

"Awe processing sitar" is the first rendezvous as such and defined the baselines for this project. Here, electronics processes a sitar in a voyage through a variety of states of mind, in a rather cinematographic experience, a sensorial journey where the unpredictable meets the traditional forms of expression of an Indian classical instrument. An erratic story (unconscious of the castrating notion of time) is to be told, made of a sequence of a wide variety of scenarios, constructed and deconstructed in an attempt to expand space and find new structures, soundscapes, rhythms, textures.

Thursday 25.02 - Masayoshi Fujita, acoustic concert

Masayoshi Fujita, will be presenting for the first time to the public, an acoustic vibraphone solo concert, performing new compositions that he has been recently working on, for this very fresh project where he explores different musical territories from the ones in his other solo project, El Fog.

As El Fog, he combines vibraphone with live sampling/processing, loop machine and electronics. He has been influenced and inspired by electronic music, jazz, dub, hip hop, classic, etc... El Fog released his first album "Reverberate Slowly" from Moteer Records (UK) in 2007. His 2nd album "Rebuilding Vibes" was released in December 2009 from Flau label (JP),mixed down with AOKI takamasa and mastered by Stephan Betke (pole, scape).

Masayoshi Fujita is also a member of the experimental improvising band "Pan Am Scan", which are now recording their first full-length album.

Recently he is also collaborating with Jan Jelinek and their album is coming out in March 2010.

These communities live under an lethargic and imprisoned identity after the Thai government realised that it benefits from this kind of human zoo.

Saturday 20.02 - 20:00 - Biting Song, Sound Performance with Projecto Gentileza

Gentileza is a sound art project developed by Sara Pereira, Catarina Miranda & Guests.
It started in 2005 and mainly consists in a long term research, relating sound,visual, performance and speech.
During our meetings we often cook or dig holes in Berlin.

The members of Gentileza shared a recurrent dream during childhood, of a dark abstract place with a spinning shape in the center, massive and white or luminous and immaterial. This landscape suggested a deep low pain, sometimes sharp and acidic, invisible. There was a continuous distant milky sound that would eventually
become incisive and close.

From all over Africa there is an invisible current of people prepared to cross continents in the pursuit of a better life. They face deserts, mafias, thirst and hunger until they arrive at a wall of barbed wire or face a tragic water crossing.

Bab Sebta is a film that goes against that current, from North to South, visiting four cities, talking with these modern heroic nomads that run against the abstraction that we call border.

"COMMERCIALS FOR A CONCEPT"

Due to the consideration that not only products but concepts and ideas need publicity, this project is about producing "commercials for a concept". "Commercials for a Concept" are ads - but not for products. They are ads for ideas, concepts or utopian product suggestions. Artists and music video directors were invited to create clips on the theme "Ideas for Europe". The result is 24 entertaining and experimental advertising clips that offer unconventional solutions for social, personal and philosophical problems.

"Ideas for Europe - 24 Commercials for a Concept" is a project by Graw Böckler. Commissioned by the 53rd International Short Film Festival Oberhausen 2007. Sponsored by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.

KATHERYNA ZAVOLOKA & LAETITIA MORAIS - Vedana /live act & video

"Vedana" is a unique piece of both artist's artwork. It is exploration of Water Element, ancient knowledge through experimental music and generative visuals. The music is composed by Zavoloka in real-time, transmitting different states of water and how they can be specifically translated to sound, as a interactive research. Low frequencies as a depth, secret, mystery, unknown. Ukrainian traditional vocal and voices as a water of life, flowing as canvas, clearness and deepness of sound. Deep changeable rhythms, warm harmonies.

The visuals are composed by Laetitia Morais, exalting the water shapes, as the visuals react and transform themselves, depending to the frequencies captured from Zavoloka's music. In addition, other real-time data is captured through internet, like sea levels or camera recognition of particular shapes and movements, controlled and formed as 3d complex, but clean and abstract compositions, that unify all this information to the simplicity of code. The join of very technological systems with rude and natural materials (high and low tech) is an interest present on this project. If the space is open to it the visuals can be integrated into architectural forms, changing the perception of the structure.

The main technical support of this project is a laptop connected to internet and to the output of Zavoloka's master sound; an open source of programming language; a designed interface that react to drawings, printings or simply corporal movement (developed with Augmented Reality technology), 2 MIDI controllers and connections to one ore more video projectors;

The result is a symbiotic system that can be performed or stand by itself. An ephemeral moment that reflects experimental approaches to deep conceptual objections.

DISCOTECA FLAMMING STAR - Sara Violet Paris Moses(For Paul Robeson) /performance

Discoteca Flaming Star is an interdisciplinary artistic and collaborative performance project, a rock to band together, or rather, a group of persons that plays songs, understanding them as a personal response to political, social and historical events.

Through conceptual and musical transformations of/in/around the songs they try to create visuals, text scenographies and a musical frame in which one of the main aims is to challenge the memory of the audience: moving it into unexpected collective and individual memory-territories. A memory for something in the future, for something that has not happened yet and maybe never will. Through the old that has not happened, the new is interrogated.

Cristina Gomez Barrio and Wolfgang Mayer work since 1998 as the foundation of Discoteca Flaming Star.

CONCURSO PÚBLICO DE IDEIAS PARA A REQUALIFICAÇÃO DO CASTELO DE ARRAIOLOS

The ground was defined as the starting point of the project, understood as the architectonic foundation . The first appropriation of land settled in the ground's handling. Look at the place as a process of historical sedimentation, without giving to the vestiges of an era, preponderance over the other. The project interacts with the memories of the place in a way intended to be active, creating new points of view, allowing other interpretations.

The project is not limited to address what, in the light of the intentions for this space, it seems like a problem to solve, but seeks to consolidate a new era, in a dialectical relationship with the heritage, fostering latent themes. In this way, the proposed solution takes the floor as a working base, while an element with thickness, with identity, with the potential to comply space. A reading of the morphology of the walled area pulled two approaches: - the elevation of the interior, which extends up the hill from the outside, and establishes himself as a sacred space, a geometry that confirms the origin of the place and at the same time, announces the church as an outcome of this composition space - the area surrounding the road, with elevations and regularized as an area of ownership easier and more-intervention over time, it is understood that this line of sharecropping between the inner wall and the hill has a character movement and imaging event to be developed. The working area of the project is defined between the inner wall and the hill, while the ground is not all down manipulated a strategy that defines a unit. It starts with a series of rings that interact among themselves and with the outer ring (the wall), "plowing" this territory in a continuous movement that started in the hole, culminating in the palace. By the middle of drawing up the program in spaces that arise in the oscillations of the different trajectories. The cafeteria, the space to support the entry, the enclosure of the sheep, the stage and its support, do not identify themselves as stand-alone buildings, spring from the ground and belonging to it; they are 'stolen' fluctuations between platforms. The materiality of this proposal does not depart from the earth as matter, however, it is with land that it is built, as an inert that combines with the concrete.

Regina Guimarães made a poetic reading about the Arraiolos' Castle, recorded by Ana Deus and available to the visitors of the city and its castle, through audio-book, for the 2008 "Festival Escrita na paisagem". There are about 18 minutes of spoken and sung words , whispered, sighed, remembered, screamed ... The visitors of the castle could hear them,while sitting in the square, or while walking through the ancient walls, accompanied by Kafka, António Joaquim Lança and others.

ACEPIPE BIP CAPUM

Acepipe Bip Capum is a laboratory for experimentation and informal research combined with open dialogue and creation through collaboration. It is intended that this place is a potential exhibition space, a proposal of accumulation of experiences in real time and of transformation of resources offered by the participating artists. The strategy of Acepipe Bip Capum has to do with crossing different methods of work and union of artists, in one space, that express different directions, but at the same time, hypothetically complementary. It is expected that, through this building framework, based on interdisciplinary experimentation, it will be possible to generate organic and interesting creation in collective, enabling the exchange of content and construction of a common context, during a specified period.

The artists invited to participate in this project, express their work in different areas, such as visual arts, sound and performing. We will seek that the ideas and proposals generated by the participants, are understood as the beginning of a process of questioning, where the arising construction is not defined by its boundaries, in order to be understood as a stream of continuous work. Acepipe Bip Capum is perceived as an intermediate space between what could be an open studio and an exhibition space, receptive to to the development of concept in partnership, as well as the recycling of contents and construction of traces, through temporary intervention, experimentation and rehearse, where the participation of the public will be included in a potential way, since it is not our intention, through this process, to entertain but rather to gather people together and stimulate constructive debate.

Después de Usted - Ausstellung

Después de Usted is a collaborative project that emerges in order to create bonds between the various creative processes of two groups: LaTejedoraCCEC, Valencia and PISO, currently based in Berlin.
Despues de Usted is a bilateral project, which feeds the distance of these two groups to join in a proposal that will culminate in an exhibition project, located first in Valencia and now in Berlin.
This project emerges from the idea of exquisite corpse, where the work is developed under the dialogue between emissors and receivers. The exhibition is the result of a practical exercise, held from 11 descriptions proposed by the allies artists based in Berlin, of which 22 pieces have emerged, corresponding to both groups, Pisoand LaTejedoraCCEC.

Nadadores de inverno (live act)

The Nadadores de Inverno (Winter Swimmers) have joined together and come up with the idea of creating and recreating songs, making them as plain as they possibly can.

Their line up might change from 2 to 5 members and they are performing now in Berlin with 3: voice, guitar and bass or drums or keyboards, depending on the numbers performed. Their music moves between pop and rock with a lot in-between.

Midori Hirano (live act)

After graduating from university with a major in classic piano, midori hirano started creating music with the help of her computer. El Fog (live act)

El fog is a solo project of Masayoshi Fujita who plays vibraphone, and electronics and analogue equipments. His has been influenced and inspired by electronic music, jazz, dub, hip hop, etc. El fog is originally from japan and now based in Berlin. His first album was released from Moteer (UK) in 2007, and 2nd album is due out in September 2009 from Flau label (JP). El fog went on UK tour with the Boats and Pan Am Scan in 2008. He also played in Club Transmediale 09 at Maria Am Ostbahnhof, Berlin. In this autumn, he is going on Japan tour.

DJ ZHAO (dj set)

An ambassador of boom connecting hyper-modern sounds from around the planet with their ancestral lineage. A dedicated riddimologist erasing arbitrary lines of division, fusing east and west, sacred and profane, past and future. Active as dj and sound curator since 2001, Zhao organized critically acclaimed long running sound-art series TONE_; founded and performed regularly at techno club PULSE"; and has shared the stage with artists such as Pan Sonic and Filastine. HHY is the main alias for multi-specter instrumentalist and producer Jonathan Uliel Saldanha. His music is informed by Alchemy and Hermetic cosmologies, RA, Heavy Bass Pressure, Indian music, Calliope, Echo Chamber, Sonic Mayhem & Voodoo Downbeats. Antoine may be anyone, one of us, one that is absent, ... A prosaic figure without being enunciated as real or illusory, it’s transported to the space that this duet evokes.
The questions in Antoine are raised in the domain of movement perception strategies and in what they involve for sustaining the presence of body in presentation space.
Within a minimal, hypnotic and seductive approach, proposals are being formalized by the acting at surface. On this sense, we have the possibility of questioning the objective nature of situations that confronts or privileges the duet itself. Operating in an abstraction layer, story evidences can emerge but these only appear as a product of distraction, as fruit of dialogue between the two performers and their senses of humor.

GHUNA X has been working for the past years an inner language between electronics and the deep sociological behaviours of his city - PORTO.

The effects of that are not limited to a general feeling, but carry strategies and methods of living/playing to better achieve this relation.

What (live act)

WHAT is the result of a mixing process, constructing and deconstructing different styles in order to create its own universe of experimentation. His music is defined by surreal contours inside the new fusions of broken electronic music and looping possibilities. He explores diverse forms of composition and processing synthesis, groovy beats and concrete sounds, using heavy basses and soundscapes within an ample sound spectrum. In his path, it brings elements from IDM, Funk, Break Beat, abstract and instrumental Hip Hop, Dub, 2 Step Garage and Acid, without a compromise with each style`s original place.

Miky Ry (dj set)

Miky Ry, began his music career in 1990 as Dj. His fascination with music sparked four years earlier when, for the first time, he listened to the futuristic sounds of Acid Chicago and techno from Detroit. He played in many different national and international locations and, and festivals. He pursued a constant research within the scene of techno Detroit and deep expermental electro.
In parallel with his djing activity, he studies Desktop Music Production. In 2002 he produces his first techno live set project called MY, with the collaboration of APE5 for the visuals.
Moreover, he collaborates with Neural and takes part to different sound projects: Sonic Genoma,Fugback (multimedia performance, in collaboration with Medium DYNE Lab, Wien, Austria). Miky Ry also produced sound timeline and soundtrack for video and art works: Tokio555, video by Ape5 for Design Festa, may 2005, Tokyo (Japan), Sento photo-digital installation of Roberto Ratti (Milan).
In 2003 he moves to Berlin and starts a new project, Narcotic Substrata, a mixture of techno Detroit and noisy electro. He played in different clubs in Berlin and Europe. At the moment he works in his studio in Berlin for the upcoming lp on his record label, Substrata.

Ghuna X is an intense explorer of urban sounds with a digital character. A performer whose also connected to
the FACA MONSTRO collective (www.myspace.com/facamonstro), working its way through an unorthodox grime and hip-hop,
with a slow, but heavy flow of beats and screaming synthesizers, which he likes to call "r&b with a double bass pedal".
On the 5th of March he will be joined by Ex-Peão, for a performance at Oporto (at PlanoB), that will be streamed and celebrated also

Para além da música, é manager do famoso blogue da CRIANÇA QUÁ QUÁ e pede roupas emprestadas porque viaja com malas pequenas. Diz mal da Mariza em entrevistas e esteve presente recentemente (novembro de 2006) no programa MÁ FAMA.

ÚLTIMO, projecto individual de PEDRO ANDRÉ (artista plástico, igualmente membro fundador da editora e de projectos musicais como ACID DA SEMANA, ANTA-MOBILE ou ÇUTA KEBAB & PARTY) direccionado para o dancefloor combinando sentimentos de melancolia e euforia, com interesses nos aspectos perceptivos do som, nas modulacões "syntetizerianas" e nos "cuts" rítmicos . Acid da Semana está de volta com um set explosivo preparado exclusivamente para a festa de carnaval da Fbaup, na próxima sexta-feira dia 16 deste mês. Podem contar com muito candyrave acid e batidas hardcore. way over 180!
Na mesma noite podem ainda ouvir o set da dupla Hermitage e a estreia da dupla Napa vs Perrossinbotella. Por certo boas surpresas para os ouvidos e pernas mais descuidados.

In it's extended version, ANTA-MOBILE presents once more an unpredictable act. keeping a new set up every play as policy, the occasion will gather PEIXE's "on the fly" guitar, ZÉ CARDOSO's moulinex guitar, JOÃO CORREIA's trumpet, GHUNA'X kkz beat and ÚLTIMO's bass drops. the show is completed with a live video streaming from rotterdam by RICARDO LAFUENTE.
